Suave and young Saurabh Bahuguna who was made the cabinet minister by chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has followed the political legacy set up by his grandfather and father. His grandfather Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna was one of the tallest Congress leaders of his time. He has held important assignments such as Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh (1973) and union minister in the Congress governments at the centre. His son Vijay Bahuguna and daughter Rita Bahuguna carried forward his mantle in politics. Vijay Bahuguna held the post of Chief Minister of Uttarakhand in the year 2012 when a Congress government was formed in the state. Rita Bahuguna is a big name in the politics of Uttar Pradesh. She is a Lok Sabha member from Prayagraj seat in UP and has held the position of Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) chief in the past. Both Vijay and Rita left Congress in the year 2016. Saurabh Bahuguna is son of Vijay Bahuguna and has reached the assembly for the second consecutive time. A law graduate, 44 years old Saurabh represents Sitarganj seat in the state assembly.
