SC orders SSP to stay put in Rajpur Road bungalow though with hiked rent

Thursday, 26 September 2024 | PNS | DEHRADUN

In latest news from Doon, the Supreme Court ordered that the senior superintendent of police Dehradun does not need to vacate the bungalow in Rajpur Road though the monthly rent has been hiked to Rs one lakh from Rs 86,333. At the same time, the apex court overturned the Dehradun district court’s 2002 ruling in which the court had asked the State government to vacate it.

The dispute remained mired in litigation since 1999 when a case was filed on behalf of the owners to have the rent of the property revised. After the district court delivered its ruling, the State government moved the High Court. After the HC upheld the district court’s ruling, the State government moved the SC.
