In a major development, the Supreme Court stayed the Uttarakhand High Court’s order to the State government to find suitable place in a month to shift the HC out of Nainital. Besides, the HC had ordered referendum on the shift issue involving the people and the lawyers across the State. The High Court Bar Association moved SC and filed a special leave petition (SLP) against the HC’s order. After hearing the SLP, the SC’s vacation bench stayed the HC’s order.
The lawyers practising in the Nainital High Court looked happy on the SC’s stay order. Even sweets were distributed by way of expressing happiness over the Apex Court’s ruling.
