Expressing grave concern on scam in the recruitments of Uttarakhand Subordinate Service Selection Commission (UKSSSC), the Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Karan Mahara has said that such scams are a great injustice with the youngsters giving these examinations. Interacting with the media persons at Rajiv Bhawan here on Wednesday he said that the youngsters who wait for years and prepare for these examinations are feeling cheated by the system. He said that similar irregularities in recruitment are reported from Cooperative banks and District Panchayats and it appears as if a big caucus is operating in the state. He said that the government has so far caught only small fishes while major players are out of its reach. Mahara said that a similar thing happened in the land acquisition and disbursal of compensation scam in NH -74 case when only SDM and Tehsildar level officers were apprehended while those with the arbitrary powers and those providing political patronage to them were let off the hook. Terming the order of inquiry given by the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami in the incident of Helang village as too little and too late, Mahara said that the case is clear and he believes that the affected women would only get harassed in the name of investigation. He said that a separate state of Uttarakhand was created to protect the rights of natives on resources. He said that no permission is needed for collecting fodder and it was really painful to watch the security personnel snatching the bundle of grass from the women in Helang. The PCC president expressed his displeasure on the setting up of different committees of Vidhan Sabha Mahara said that the senior MLAs of Congress party were ignored by the government. He said that it is a convention that the MLAs of opposition are given representation in the public accounts and assurance committees of the house but this time senior MLAs of Congress were neglected. Mahara said that he would take up the issue with the Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader Yashpal Arya and the Speaker Ritu Khanduri.
