School girl killed after school bus crashes into tree

A 12-year-old school girl died after the school bus she was in crashed into a tree in Vikasnagar area of Dehradun district on Monday morning. The driver and another student also sustained serious injuries and were admitted to the hospital for treatment. Informing about the incident, the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) and the senior superintendent of police (SSP) Janmejaya Khanduri said that as per the information received so far, the driver crashed into a tree when he was on its way to a school from Dakpathar in Vikasnagar.
He said, “A 12-year-old school girl died in the accident. The bus driver and an 11-year-old school boy got seriously injured and were sent to the nearest hospital for treatment. There were about 40 students on the bus. Most of the students were safe and only a few sustained minor injuries. All students were sent back to their homes safely by the authorities.”
On the question of the cause of the accident, the DIG said that as per the locals, the bus seemed uncontrolled and crashed into the tree but nothing specific can be stated to be a certain cause of the accident. “The front and left sides of the bus were badly damaged in the accident. The driver was unconscious since the accident and is under treatment. The police will wait for him to get better in order to take his statement on the matter. The accident put the lives of many children in danger and the police are looking into evidence and investigating the matter,” added Khanduri.
