In view of a warning of very heavy rain issued by the weathermen, the district magistrates of Dehradun and Pauri have declared a holiday in the schools on Wednesday. In an order the Dehradun district magistrate Sonika stated that the meteorological centre has issued a red alert for August 23 and in view of the increased chances of landslides in the sensitive areas all the schools from class I to XII will remain closed in the district on Wednesday. All Anganwadi centres will also remain closed. The Pauri DM Ashish Chauhan has also issued a similar order for the schools of the district. Similar action is expected in other districts for which a red alert has been issued.
