The State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (SCPCR) took strong exception to the letter written by the parents of a minor rape survivor circulating in social media and various news portals. The commission said that disclosing the identity of a minor survivor to the public amounted to violation of the existing laws meant to protect the identity of such victims. It further said that such disclosure might compromise the security of the minor involved. SCPCR also urged all to follow the laws so as to ensure that the privacy of the survivors of sexual offences is protected.
