SCPCR holds meeting with children on their rights

The State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (SCPCR) organised a virtual meeting on Saturday to discuss child rights with children from all districts. Departments in attendance included the Women Empowerment and Child Welfare department, Police, Education department and others. The meeting engaged about 400 to 500 children from the districts. During the meeting, SCPCR chairwoman Geeta Khanna provided detailed information about children’s rights and the importance of their protection. She emphasised the historical background of child rights and the roles that both society and government play in safeguarding these rights.
The meeting fostered dialogue between the children, their families and representatives from various departments. Special efforts were made to emphasise the significance of child rights. Regarding this, Khanna stated that this initiative is essential for educating children about their rights and taking meaningful steps toward their protection. She also noted the efforts of the commission with the aim to raise awareness about children’s rights in the State and implement concrete measures to ensure their safety.
