To mark the national nutrition month, the State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (SCPCR) organised an Amma Kitchen programme at an anganwadi centre in Dehradun on Wednesday. The chairperson of SCPCR Geeta Khanna besides a number of officials was present at the programme.
“This initiative aims at raising awareness among the women about nutritional diet. An exhibition of traditional food has also been organised as part of this initiative.
Besides, information about nutrition has been imparted to adolescent girls, pregnant women, lactating mothers and the general people. Information about napkin vending machines has also been given to the adolescent girls,” informed Khanna.
While addressing the gathering comprising women/girls and children at the anganwadi centre, she recounted to them the importance of maintaining nutrition in day-to-day meals. This aside, she shared details of the major health-related problems the women are generally vulnerable to during the programme.
