The State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (SCPCR) will conduct a counselling session for the family of a teenage girl who had recently committed suicide in Dehradun. Expressing concern at the suicide by the girl while working as a domestic help at a home in Dehradun, SCPCR member Vinod Kaparwan said that the commission intends to conduct the counselling session once the girl’s family is ready to address the situation. The owner of the home where she worked and his driver were apprehended under the Child Labour Prohibition Act. The owner and driver had their bail rejected by the district court on Thursday, he said.
“The prosecution advocate in the case asserted that he has personally observed numerous incidents of crimes against children in Dehradun. He expressed his intention to collaborate with the commission to diligently pursue legal actions against individuals who have perpetrated crimes against children throughout the State,” said Kaparwan.
