The State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (SCPCR) will send the state government a proposal to provide skill development training to children residing in Bal Grahs across the state. The chairperson of the commission Geeta Khanna said that though the children in all child homes across the state receive education, it is also important to provide them with the skills they need to earn their livelihood once they become an adult. The state government has already been running various welfare programmes for children in Bal Grahs but SCPCR will now send a proposal to the government to commence a skill training programme for the children, said Khanna. She said that the commission is currently working on making a proper plan to present a proposal to the government. According to the SCPCR chief, the commission is working on various aspects like what kind of training programme must be provided to children as per their age as well as their interests. “We want to encourage the interests of children that they can pursue as a livelihood too. The commission has been waiting for the government formation and appointment of ministers for all departments and since it has been done, we will soon share this thought with the department concerned and send a proposal to the government to provide skill development training to children,” said Khanna. She also added that the commission is also working on taking several other initiatives for children in Bal Grahs which will be executed in the next few months.
