SCSC finds irregularities at nursing college in Nainital on surprise inspection

After hearing the plight of the female students of a nursing training college in Nainital during his surprise inspection on Tuesday, the chairman of the State Commission for Scheduled Castes (SCSC) Mukesh Kumar has directed the Kumaon commissioner Deepak Rawat and district magistrate Dhiraaj Singh Garbyal to take action in the matter. Kumar said that he was receiving regular complaints from students of the college considering which he held a surprise on Tuesday morning of BD Pandey School of Nursing College. He said that the agitated students also complained to him in the college campus regarding the alleged irregularities.
During his inspection, Kumar found spoiled vegetables kept in the freezer for students’ consumption. The students also told him that they have to do several jobs from cleaning gutters to cooking food in the college. The students also complained of being given unhygienic drinking water in the college.
Kumar reprimanded the principal of the college for all irregularities and directed him to make necessary improvements in the management. He also talked to the DM and Kumaun commissioner on phone from the college to instruct them to take necessary action in the matter. Kumar said that he will return for another inspection soon to check the improvement done as per the directions.
