The personnel of the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) who have received training in mountaineering from Atal Bihari Vajpayee Institute of Mountaineering and Allied Sports at Manali in Himachal Pradesh will be posted at sensitive places in the State during the trekking season. The said personnel will once again go under intensive training at the State level before they are deployed at the sensitive locations, said the SDRF commandant Manikant Mishra.
He stated this in the monthly conference of all the officers and employees deployed at the SDRF posts across the State through video conferencing at SDRF headquarters in Jolly Grant. He said that many trekkers from across the country and abroad will arrive in the State for trekking and mountaineering expeditions after the rain subsides in the next few weeks. The SDRF’s high altitude rescue team will be deployed in vulnerable locations. The personnel need to be mentally and physically prepared to ensure they can discharge their duties efficiently when needed.
The team members will soon resume regular training as well as training via trekking and mountaineering expeditions to make them capable of performing efficiently in mountains during the trekking season, said Mishra. Besides this, he also asked the personnel deployed at posts about living arrangements, food and other issues they might be facing and directed the officials concerned to resolve the issues in the stipulated time.
