SDRF rescues two pregnant women, shifts families to safe locations

A pregnant woman who was stuck at her home along with her family in Dehradun’s Raiwala area due to severe waterlogging was safely transported to the hospital with the help of the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) on Monday. The house of the victim was heavily flooded and six persons were trapped there. The officials said that the rescue teams of SDRF used rafts to rescue family members from the house when they noticed that the pregnant woman was groaning in pain as she was sick.
The teams took the family to a safe place and immediately arranged an ambulance to send the woman to the hospital for treatment. The SDRF teams also rescued another pregnant woman who was stuck in water from the waterlogged Aambagh area in Rishikesh. The rescue teams also shifted some families from Geetanagar near the IDPL gate in Rishikesh to safer places after water entered their homes on Monday morning. The senior superintendent of police of Dehradun Daleep Singh Kunwar also reached Rishikesh to monitor the work of the rescue operation in the area.
The SDRF team also rescued four people who were trapped inside a car that was stuck in a drain near Bhogpur with the help of the local police. Two people whose bikes were stuck in the drain were also rescued by the team. The district magistrate Sonika also inspected severely affected areas of the district and said that necessary measures are being taken to remove water from waterlogged areas. Besides this, SDRF also shifted about 80 families residing in Kangri village of Shyampur area of Haridwar to a Dharamshala on Monday morning after the Ganga river started flowing above the danger mark. The commandant of SDRF Manikant Mishra said all rescue teams are on high alert in every district and necessary help is being provided in affected places.
