The discovery of the body of a woman in the Naini lake here caused a stir in the city on Thursday. This was the second time within four days that a body was found in the lake. Morning walkers on the Thandi Sadak spotted the body of a woman in the lake near the Shani Mandir at about 7 AM on Thursday.
The people informed the police who arrived at the scene and fished out the body from the lake. Initially the woman could not be identified. However, as news about the discovery of a woman’s body in the lake spread in the city, she was identified as Kamla Giri (37). As soon as the neighbours came to know about her death, they reached the mortuary in the district hospital. The deceased and her husband have three daughters.
The youngest daughter who studies in class VI had been selected to participate in the International Day of Yoga event in the national Capital with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Though this had brought much pride to the family and the lake city, the death of a mother just a few days later has come as a major shock to the family and neighbours.
The husband of the deceased works as a gardener in the advocate general’s office in Uttarakhand high court. According to the police, the cause of death will be ascertained after the post mortem examination. The body was handed over to the family after post mortem.
