Another explosion has taken place on the Heritage Street near the Golden Temple on Monday. Police, however, claimed that it was a minor explosion. But the fact that puzzles the police is that Monday’s explosion took place at the same spot where the first explosion took place on Sunday. As the blast happened in the morning there is no report of any injury to anyone while six people were injured in the blast that happened on the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday. Police confirmed that the second blast happened at the same spot where the first blast had taken place. Police further said that the blast had happened in chimney in a restaurant on Heritage Street.
Senior police officials, bomb disposal squad and forensic team reached the spot. Police, however, have declined to say much on the explosion. But the locals said that a strong explosion had taken place at around 6.30 on Monday morning.
ACDP Mehtab Singh said that they did not have much information to give. “FSL team and bomb disposal squad have reached the explosion spot and they are investigating the matter,” he said.
It is learnt that intense searching operation was carried out in the sewage lines following the second blast in apprehension of a suspicious object being hidden there.
