Security beefed up ahead of VP visit

In latest news from Uttarakhand, security has been spruced up in Haridwar in view of the scheduled visit of the Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankar on Saturday. The district police brass said that road diversions would be effected from 9 am to 2 pm on that day to facilitate smooth movement of vehicles during the VVIP visit. Further, vehicular movement would remain suspended on the stretch from Bhaniawala/ Rishikesh of the Haridwar National Highway from 8 am to 2 pm. Police sources said that the vehicles coming from Rishikesh and heading towards Bhaniawala would be stopped at the Jolly Grant airport traffic trijunction. Besides, the vehicles heading towards Dehradun might be diverted at Ranipokhri crossroad while the vehicles heading towards Haridwar through the Bhaniawala flyover would be stopped on the flyover. Moreover, the vehicles heading towards Nepali Farm would not be allowed to proceed from there.
Meanwhile, the DGP Abhinav Kumar visited Haridwar to take stock of the security ahead of the VP’s visit. Accompanied by the IG Garhwal Karan Singh Nagnyal and SSP Haridwar Pramendra Dobhal, he conducted on-site review of security at Gurukul Kangri University and Harihar Ashram, Kankhal.
