Security being beefed up for PM’s proposed U’khand visit

In latest news from Dehradun, the security agencies are intensifying vigilance in view of the proposed Pithoragarh visit of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi in October. The police have been conducting verification drives in every house, government and private offices located along the stretch of Naini Saini Airport to the Surendra Singh Waldiya Sports Stadium from where the PM might address a public meeting. Besides, verification drive is on in the Narayan Ashram in Dharchula and Adi Kailash areas. As per the senior Pithoragarh district administrative officers privy to the details of the PM’s itinerary during his proposed Pithoragarh visit, Modi is likely to visit the Narayan Ashram and Adi Kailash and also address a public meeting on October 11 and 12. It is further learnt that the Pangla police station and SSB personnel have conducted combing operation along the Nepal border and stepped up security around the spots through which contrabands and illegal liquor are smuggled. Security has been beefed up too in and around Jhulaghat. The PM is also likely to visit Mayawati Ashram founded by Swami Vivekananda located in Champawat district. In view of this, the Champawat district magistrate Navneet Pandey and other senior district administrative officers visited Mayavati Ashram and other places, including the helipad, to ensure fool-proof security. Without naming the PM, the DM said that they were taking stock of the security arrangements being made for the likely visit of a VVIP.
