The Dehradun district magistrate Ashish Chauhan and Dehradun senior superintendent of police Pramendra Dobal inspected the arrangements at Parade Ground on Wednesday where the main parade will be held and reviewed the preparations.

The district administration said that the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami scheduled to hoist the national flag at 10 AM on August 15. The DM directed officials to ensure proper arrangements for the seating of the chief guest, VIPs and other dignitaries. He also reviewed security, parking, traffic management, electricity, cleanliness and drinking water arrangements.

For security purposes, Dobal said that the entire programme venue has been divided into four sectors and two cordons. These areas will be headed by officers of the circle officer rank. Police personnel will also be deployed at 12 inner and outer points around the venue, he said.

The area around Parade Ground will remain a zero-vehicle zone during the programme. The movement of vehicles, pushcarts and street vendors will be completely prohibited in the area.

He directed the officers to ensure proper traffic arrangements during the celebrations. He said separate entry and exit routes will be marked for VIPs and the general public. Parking areas will also be identified for visitors. The police will issue a traffic advisory and deploy mobile police teams in different areas until the celebrations are over, he added.

Dobal informed that the police will carry out intensive checking at important and crowded places such as bus stations and railway stations. Bomb Disposal Squads and dog squads will also be used for checking. Police will conduct checking at inter-district and inter-state borders and on internal routes to identify suspicious people and vehicles.
