Senior leaders of the Uttarakhand Congress held elaborate discussions on many issues and formalised the party’s strategy in a meeting held at Rajiv Bhawan on Thursday.
The meeting chaired by the Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Karan Mahara was attended by former chief minister Harish Rawat, leader of opposition in Vidhan Sabha Yashpal Arya, former PCC president Pritam Singh, former PCC president Ganesh Godiyal, former cabinet ministers Harak Singh Rawat, Hira Singh Bisht, Navprabhat, Tilak Raj Behed, secretary All India Congress Committee Qazi Nizamuddin and MLAs.
The co-in-charge of the State Congress, Surendra Sharma was also present in the meeting.
In the meeting, the Congress leaders discussed the strategy of the party in the State. The discussions of the party leaders centred around the party’s plan of action against the ruling BJP. Held in the backdrop of the completion of three years in office of chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, the Congress leaders held in depth discussions for the party’s strategy for the crucial Vidhan Sabha elections of 2027. The leaders discussed ways to counter the Hindutva brand of politics of the BJP with some of them suggesting that the party should focus on Uttarakhandiyat and maintaining and preserving the prestige of the people of Uttarakhand.
