Septuagenarian dies,  Char Dham fatality rises to 5

In latest news from Uttarakhand, the number of fatalities in the first few days of the Char Dham Yatra has risen to five. The latest fatality happened when a 73-year-old man identified as Suryakant Khamar from Gandhinagar, Gujarat died of cardiac arrest while heading towards Yamunotri.  He started feeling sick near Jankichatti. He was rushed to the hospital at Jankichatti where he was declared brought dead.

Meanwhile, the Uttarkashi chief medical officer B S Rawat appealed to the pilgrims headed for Yamunotri to have their health checked up at the hospital at Jankichatti before resuming the pilgrimage. So far, five people have died while on the pilgrimage to the four Himalayan shrines. Four of them died while headed for Yamunotri while one died on way to Badrinath. All died of heart-related problems.
