Serve tea in earthen glasses in secretariat- CM Dhami

Directs the officers to promote the ancient art of pottery making

The chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has suggested that the guests should be served tea in his residence and secretariat in the earthen glasses. This he said would help in promoting the age- old pottery art in the State.

Dhami made this comment while presiding over a meeting held in the State secretariat on reviving the pottery art on Friday. Terming pottery making as an ancient and rich art, the CM said that the art should be promoted. Dhami said that many families in Uttarakhand are associated with pottery making and the objective of the government of India’s Kumhar Sashaktikaran scheme is to promote this old art form. The scheme also aims to bring the pottery maker community to the mainstream of development by strengthening them. In the meeting the CM directed that mud needed for making pottery should be available and areas should be identified for this and the earth should be provided free of cost to the potters.  In the meeting the tea was served in earthen glasses to the CM and other officers.

He said that a portal for promoting the art of pottery making would be made and the art would be linked with the CM Swarozgar Yojana.

The meeting was attended by additional chief secretary Radha Raturi, secretary BVRC Purushottam, secretary Pankaj Pandey, director general of Industries, Ranvir Singh Chauhan , deputy chairperson of Mati Kala Board Sobha Ram Prajapati and others.
