A seven-day theatre festival organised in collaboration with Uttar Natya Sansthan and Theatre and Folk Art Department concluded at Doon University on Tuesday. The festival which began on March 27 to celebrate World Theatre Day, featured a Garhwali play called Rumelo based on Shakespeare’s Othello.
The play depicted the tragic story of a brave warrior named Rumelo who served at the Bulleth fort. Throughout the performance, Rumelo’s marriage to Rukma, the daughter of the wealthy ruler Kaldaar Shah, was central to the plot. The university vice chancellor Surekha Dangwal and others were also present on the occasion.
