Several routes to remain diverted in Doon

Several routes will remain diverted in Dehradun on Thursday due to the Tapkeshwar Shobhayatra starting from Shivaji Dharmshala. The procession is scheduled to begin at 11 AM and will pass through Saharanpur Chowk, Jhanda Bazaar, Paltan Bazaar, Clock Tower, Bindal, Cantt area, Dakra Bazaar, Garhi Cantt Chowk and conclude at Tapkeshwar Market Temple.
During the movement of the procession, traffic from Niranjanpur Mandi Lalpul and Matawala Bagh cut towards Saharanpur Chowk will be diverted towards GMS Road, as per the traffic plan issued by the Dehradun police. Traffic from Prince Chowk and the railway station will be allowed in intervals. Before the procession reaches Saharanpur Chowk, vehicles from Balliwala and Lakshman Chowk will not be allowed to proceed towards it and will be redirected via Kamla Palace and Park Road respectively. Once the procession enters Jhanda Bazaar from Saharanpur Chowk and traffic flow normalises, earlier diversions will be lifted.
As the procession reaches Clock Tower, vehicles heading towards Chakrata Road will be diverted to Darshanlal Chowk. Traffic from Ballupur will be routed through Kishannagar Chowk, Bindal Chowki Cut and further to Dilaaram Chowk via the Cantt area. The police said that diversions will gradually be lifted once the tail end of the procession crosses Bindal Cut.
Upon reaching the post office, vehicles from Vatika Tiraha will be allowed towards the post office via Akashganga Tiraha while traffic from the post office towards Vatika Tiraha will be allowed in intervals. As the tail end passes Dakra Road, normal traffic movement will resume.
The police stated that all emergency vehicles will be allowed on the route. Entry of all types of loading vehicles into the city will be restricted from 9 AM to 8 PM. The police have urged the public to avoid the procession route and use alternative and diverted roads to help maintain smooth traffic flow.
