Several routes will remain diverted in Dehradun due to the Dussehra celebration at the Parade Ground on Saturday. The traffic plan will be implemented from 12 PM and will remain in effect till the conclusion of the event. The Dussehra procession will commence at 2 PM from its designated starting point and is expected to reach Parade Ground by 4 PM.
The route for the procession will cover prominent locations, including Shri Kalika Temple, Moti Bazaar, Paltan Bazaar, Rajpur Road and Kanak Chowk before arriving at the Parade Ground. The entire area around Parade Ground will be declared a zero-vehicle zone to ensure smooth traffic management. Public transport, including Vikrams and mini buses, will follow specific rerouted paths during the event. Vikrams will have restricted access near the Parade Ground and will be diverted at key points such as Tehsil Chowk, Railway Gate and Sahastradhara Crossing, based on their respective route.
Similarly, city buses operating on routes like Rajpur Road, Clement Town to Rajpur Road, and Raipur Road will be rerouted and will not be allowed near Kanak Chowk and Lansdowne areas. The officials informed that several barriers will be placed at key locations across the city, including Buddha Chowk, Darshan Lal Chowk, Kanak Chowk, Lansdowne Chowk, and Survey Chowk. They said that the parking facilities have been arranged at Rangers Ground and Mangla Devi Inter College for general attendees while VIP and official vehicles will be allowed to park behind the Parade Ground stage and at Doon Club. In case of overflow at these designated parking areas, alternative parking spots will be available at secretariat, Bindal parking, Women’s Polytechnic at Survey Chowk and court’s parking for vehicles approaching from different city areas.
The police urged the citizens attending the Dussehra fair to park only in the designated parking spots and use two-wheelers or alternate routes to reduce congestion, if possible. Essential service vehicles will be permitted to operate without hindrance throughout the event.
