In a major punitive action, the State Health Authority (SHA) has blacklisted the Kalindi hospital in Vikasnagar for a period of five years from the panel of the hospitals of Ayushman Bharat scheme. The order of the punitive action against the hospital was given by the administration director of the SHA, Dr V S Tolia.
Glaring irregularities were found by the SHA in its audit of the Kalindi hospital’s claims and bills of the treatment done by it. The audit revealed fraud in the treatment of patients and it found that in 171 cases of surgery, the doctor’s signature was forged in the medical reports of the patients. In a glaring anomaly which put the lives of the patients in peril, it was found that anaesthesia to 410 patients was given by the technician of the Operation Theatre (OT)
The SHA has already registered a case against the hospital management at Vikasnagar police station. It has also removed the name of the hospital from the panel of the Ayushman scheme and had cancelled fraudulent claims worth Rs 11 crore made by the hospital. The SHA has now blacklisted the Kalindi hospital for a period of five years.
