In latest news from Dehradun, police have come across a strange case of a youth impersonating as an IAS officer on study leave for completing PhD and duping an elderly couple of lakhs of rupees. The complaint was filed in Patelnagar police station. As per police, the daughter of the elderly couple came about six months ago and asked her parents to let the young man from Ghaziabad-Himanshu Juyal- live in their house as tenant. He was introduced as an IAS on study leave.
Slowly, the young man won the trust of the couple and persuaded it into handing him Rs 15, 00,000 and ornaments worth more than Rs, 9,00,000. Thereafter, he left for Ghaziabad and did not return. When the couple contacted him on phone he started evading answers.
On receiving the complaint, Patelnagar police started investigating the matter and found that the impostor had shown the duped couple a fake identity card issued by LBSNAA. They said they are on the lookout for the sham IAS.
