Under the guidance of chief development officer (CDO) Nitika Khandelwal, a Self Help Groups (SHGs) operated bakery in Vikas Bhawan was opened on Thursday which was inaugurated by district magistrate Ashish Kumar Srivastava. The DM also tasted various baked goods and appreciated this initiative. Besides, he also gave his inputs and suggestions to the bakers including preparing some baked products like bread with herbs like tulsi to make them more nutritious and healthy for consumers.
The bakery is named HILANS Bakery which is, as per the officials, an acronym for Highland Innovative Livelihood Ascending Nature Sustainability. There are various kinds of baked goods available in the bakery and as per the officials, the different varieties will continue to be available in the store. Also, the operators in the bakery stated that currently, they are taking payment through cash only but soon they will take all kinds of digitalised payments as they are in the process of registering for various digital payment modes. The project director of District Rural Development Agency (DRDA), Vikram Singh also informed that about five SHGs are currently working together in operating this bakery and the administration also has plans to open outlets in other parts of the district too depending on the response of the consumers to this bakery.
