SHO along with MH celebrates World Heart Day

The Station Health Organisation (SHO) in collaboration with Military Hospital (MH) Dehradun, celebrated World Heart Day 2025 at the Dehradun military station on Monday, under the global theme “Don’t Miss a Beat”. Officials highlighted that the event aimed to raise awareness about cardiovascular and lifestyle-related diseases. The programme commenced with an inaugural address, followed by a lecture from the officer commanding of SHO colonel Alok Gupta. He emphasised the importance of preventing heart diseases through healthy lifestyle choices. Commandant of MH Dehradun brigadier Parikshit Singh also shared essential tips on maintaining good health and the significance of regular check-ups.
A skit was also organised by the department of Medical Health and Family Welfare, Uttarakhand, focused on creating awareness about lifestyle diseases and HIV/AIDS. The performance aimed to educate the public on the importance of adopting healthy lifestyle choices, such as balanced nutrition, regular exercise and stress management, to prevent conditions like diabetes, hypertension and heart disease, along with the prevention and management of HIV/AIDS.
The officials said that the skit was part of the “Healthy Women and Empowered Families Pakhwada” initiative, which highlights prevention, safe practices and the reduction of stigma. Additionally, a free health camp was organised at the venue, offering blood pressure and blood sugar checks, as well as assessments of height and weight. A health exhibition was also set up, showcasing tips for heart care and general wellness.
Further, winners of the painting competitions held earlier at KV upper camp and KV Birpur were recognised and awarded prizes, encouraging young participants to promote health awareness through creativity.
