Short Assembly session a joke on people of U’khand: Mahara

The Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Karan Mahara has said that the decision of the State government to hold the three-day long Assembly session in Gairsain is a bad joke on the people of Uttarakhand. He said that the three-day session is very short and clearly shows that the State government wants to evade the questions related to public interest.

Responding to the statement of Parliamentary Affairs minister Prem Chand Agarwal regarding keeping the duration of the Assembly session three days, Mahara said that it is not possible to discuss the questions of public interest raised by the MLAs in the short duration of three days. He said that it is unfortunate that despite spending crores of rupees in organising the session in Gairsain which involves shifting of the government machinery and staff, the public representatives will not get the answers to their questions. Mahara added that if the questions raised by the public representatives are not heard and answered in the Assembly session, then there is no justification for the session.

He said that the BJP-led government of the State has deliberately kept the issue of permanent capital of the State hanging.

The PCC president said that the BJP-led governments at the Centre and State are insulting the people of Uttarakhand and the sentiments of the statehood activists by keeping the issue of permanent capital pending.
