Shri Venkateshwara University hosts a seminar on World Food Day

A one- day national seminar on “Safe storage and nutritional security of food, fruits and vegetables” was held at Shri Venkateshwara University campus Meerut to mark the World Food Day on Monday.
During the seminar, senior scientists of Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), Ministry of Agriculture, Government of India and senior scientists of Pantnagar Agricultural University brainstormed on the growing global food needs/food security and deliberated on how to increase the income of farmers through proper conservation and nutritional security of crops. Speaking on the occasion, the Venkateshwara Group head Sudhir Giri said that the real wellbeing of the country depends on the wellbeing of the villagers and the farmers and therefore, the country needs a robust agricultural system. Addressing the seminar, senior scientist, Indian Agricultural Research Institute, Ministry of Agriculture, Government of India, Prof Ram Asrey Singh said that all must be alert and try to reduce the misuse of food grains if a severe food crisis that happened in South Africa, Ethiopia and Somalia is to be avoided in the world. The renowned agricultural scientist Pantnagar University and former vice- chancellor of Kumaon University Prof V P S. Arora in his address said that the farmers’ incomes could be doubled through proper maintenance and storage of the nutritional value of the agricultural crops.
