Silkayara heroes: CM Dhami announces Rs 50 k each for rat miners

A day after the success of the rescue mission in Silkayara in which 41 labourers trapped in a tunnel were evacuated after 17 days, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami visited the community health centre (CHC) Chinnyalisaur, Uttarkashi on Wednesday where the labourers were admitted for primary health check-up. In the visit he inquired about the health of the admitted labourer. He also handed over a cheque of Rs one Lakh to every labourer. The CM also declared that an incentive of Rs 50,000 would be given to every member of the team of rat miners who succeeded in pushing the steel pipe through the debris in the last stage of the rescue mission.
Dhami inquired about the health of the labourers from the doctors and inspected the facilities in the hospital.
The CM also interacted with the relatives of the labourers and appreciated the patience shown by them. He said that apart from the courage and resilience shown by labourers, the untiring effort of the agencies and the personnel involved in the rescue operation became the basis of the success of the mission.
In the visit Dhami interacted with mother of one of the rescued labourers Pushkar of Tanakpur, Champawat and told her that the State government has fulfilled its promise of safe evacuation of the labourers. He told her that her son is healthy and soon will reach home after medical examinations. He said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was keeping a close eye on the rescue mission and remained concerned about the safety of the labourer. The CM said that due to the tunnel collapse incident the festival of Deepawali was not properly celebrated and now the festival will be celebrated with enthusiasm.
The Garhwal commissioner Vinay Shankar Pandey, district magistrate of Uttarkashi Abhishek Rohilla, director general (DG) information Bansidhar Tiwari, Superintendent of Police (SP) Arpan Yaduvanshi and others accompanied the CM.
