The fourth day of the 10-day Uttarayani Kauthig being organised by Parvatiya Mahaparishad from January 14 to 23 in Lucknow started with the choliya dance performance presented by a group from Almora. Later in the day, a musical troupe from Pithoragarh led by singer Kailash Kumar presented folk songs from the mountains. The media in-charge of the Kauthig said that a cultural programme was to be organised in the memory of the legendary folk singer Prahlad Mehra in the evening of its fifth day and the singer’s son Kamal Mehra led it. Notably, this programme is organised annually to celebrate the folk culture of Kumaon region of Uttarakhand.
