The election commission of India (ECI) has completed hearing of about 94 per cent notices sent to the unmapped voters and to those with various kinds of anomalies. This information was given by the officials to the chief electoral officer (CEO) BVRC Purushottam when he was reviewing the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls in the State through a video conferencing session with the district magistrates of all the districts on Monday.
The CEO was informed that out of 71.33 lakh voters included in the draft electoral roll in the State, notices were issued to 24.30 lakh unmapped voters and to the voters with different types of anomalies during the ongoing process of SIR in the State. The electoral registration officers (ERO) and assistant electoral registration officers (AERO) have completed the process of hearing notices of about 23 lakh voters in the State. The CEO was informed that there are 1.10 lakh voters who could not be reached for the hearing. It was informed in the meeting that all such voters have been given an opportunity for re-hearing so that every eligible voter can be included in the voter list.
In the meeting, the CEO gave instructions to dispose of all the Forms VI, VII, VIII within the next one week. The DMs gave a detailed presentation regarding the action taken so far regarding the disposal of claims and objections, as well as for hearing on the remaining cases. Purushottam directed all DMs to hear all the claims and objections in a timely manner and as per the rules.
The additional chief electoral officer Vijay Kumar Jogdande, deputy chief electoral officer Kishan Singh Negi, assistant chief electoral officer Mastu Das and all the DMs attended the meeting.
