Sisodia says Congress & BJP want votes to continue corruption agenda

The senior leader of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Delhi deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia said that though it is the first time AAP is contesting assembly elections in Uttarakhand, he felt the kind of undercurrent here that people had in Delhi during 2013 elections. Sisodia who was in the state for his three-day visit participated in the roadshows in Mussoorie, Rishikesh, Doiwala and Sahaspur assembly constituencies on Saturday. While addressing media persons in Dehradun on Saturday, he said that his party is asking for votes to provide better education, health facilities, and employment opportunities but Congress and BJP want votes just to continue to work on their corruption agenda to fill their coffers as they have failed to work for people here in the past 21 years. He said, “On what basis are they asking people to vote for them? They cannot even name the works they did as per their manifesto released in the last assembly elections. Quality education and health is not even mentioned in their manifestos this time. If they have significant works during their tenure, I challenge them to ask the public to vote for them only if they have done development work.”
He also said that the conditions of schools and colleges are itself bad in the constituency of education minister Arvind Pandey. He said, “I noticed the bad condition of government schools during the campaign in his constituency. I even saw that an entire college is being run in two rooms. This is the condition of almost all government schools across the state.”
Sisodia also stated that he has been visiting several constituencies to conduct campaigns for the party and have received overwhelming response from locals who are impressed with their work in Delhi. “People have been telling me personally during the campaign that they want to support the Kejriwal government this time due to Delhi’s development work. They are fed up with both Congress and BJP who have failed to work for them despite being in power for ten years each. It is actually that kind of undercurrent here that people had in Delhi during 2013 elections when they first had AAP as an alternative to BJP and Congress. After choosing us, they forgot these political parties there and I am sure people would forget here too if we will be given a chance,” stated the AAP leader.
