SIT arrests two more accused for irregularities in registrar’s office

The Special Investigation Team (SIT) arrested two more accused on charges of their involvement in the irregularities in the registrar’s office of Dehradun. The police have arrested eight accused in the case so far, said the Dehradun senior superintendent of police Daleep Singh Kunwar. The SIT was formed last month after several irregularities were found in the registrar offices of the Dehradun district administration.
The SSP said that the team started the investigation and has checked more than 50 registries since then. He said that the team studied related documents and interrogated all the people associated with the properties on the basis of which six accused were arrested in the case. These accused are Santosh Agarwal, Deep Chand Agarwal, Makhan Singh and Dalchand who used to work in the registrar’s office besides advocate Imran Ahmed and Ajay Singh Chhetri who worked in the record room. They are currently in judicial custody in the district jail.
During the investigation of these accused, the names of some people and property dealers came to light who were found to be involved in the irregularities in the registrar’s office besides finding a trail of some illegal transactions, said SSP. The accused arrested on Monday have been identified as Rohitash Singh (42) and Vikas Pandey (40) who were arrested from the Patelnagar area on Monday. They have revealed during the investigation that they allegedly forged documents of various Khasra Numbers of the lands of various areas like Raipur, Ladpur, Nawada, and Ranipur among several others and kept them in the record room, said Kunwar. He said that the police have received crucial information during interrogation. The teams are also raiding several places to get necessary evidence and will soon arrest other culprits as well, he added
