SIT nabs two more accused for Lekhpal-Patwari exam paper leak

The Special Investigation Team (SIT) formed to probe the irregularities in the Lekhpal-Patwari examination held on January 8 has arrested two more accused in the case. The team has also gathered information about candidates who allegedly bought examination the paper from the accused. The senior superintendent of police (SSP) of Haridwar, Ajai Singh, who is monitoring the SIT, stated that the police took four-day remand of the main accused uncle-nephew duo Sanjeev Dubey and Rajpal on January 19. The police have recovered several important documents and evidence on the basis of the information received from THE accused during the remand. The police arrested two Haridwar residents Deepak Kumar and Saurabh Prajapati for their alleged involvement in the paper leak on the basis of evidence, said Singh. He said that the arrested accused have allegedly confessed to purchasing a printer to print question papers for the practice of candidates at a resort in Biharigarh, which was later destroyed by them after candidates solved them. The police have recovered the printer and other important documents from the possession of both accused including documents of the accounts of candidates who paid them for the examination paper, said the SSP. He also informed that SIT has identified Dwarka in Delhi as the third spot where the accused made some of their relatives read the examination paper before the scheduled examination date who are also allegedly involved in leaking the paper. The police have also recovered a car used by one of the relatives and a mobile phone used to take pictures of the question paper, said Singh. The SIT has so far arrested a total of 10 accused in the case and imposed the Gangster Act on eight accused arrested earlier. The SSP said that the SIT is collecting concrete evidence and will soon arrest all the accused involved in the paper leak case.
