The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the Ankita Bhandari murder case has expressed its disappointment over the circulation of the baseless rumours and speculations in the social media platforms by several portals and individuals regarding the Ankita Bhandari murder probe.
The authorities have stated on Sunday that action will be taken against the news portals spreading baseless rumours regarding the Ankita Bhandari murder probe while citing SIT as official source. They said that such baseless misinformation spread through media or posted by individuals on social media platforms is affecting law and order in the State besides affecting the investigation of the case.
The officials said that the SIT has been giving updates on the case regularly and news portals and citizens should refrain from posting misinformation as genuine facts citing SIT as the source. If anyone is found to be spreading such baseless news on the matter, the SIT said that the authorities will take action against them as per the rules.
