A team formed by the State government conducted a site inspection for the construction of the proposed new campus of Sri Dev Suman Uttarakhand University in Jaul village. The university later sent the inspection report to the State government for action on the matter.
There has been a persistent demand for a new campus of the university in Chamba region. Notably, the people from Jaul village had submitted a proposal to the MLA Kishore Upadhyay for the construction of a new campus. As part of the proposal, the MLA had requested the university to provide land in Jaul (Deori), the birthplace of Sri Dev Suman.
Taking cognizance of this proposal, the university’s vice- chancellor, N K Joshi had forwarded the proposal to the State government. Consequently, on Friday, a team of government-nominated members inspected the site.
The village head and public representative of Deori village, Vinod Suyal was present during the inspection.
Through the joint efforts of local villagers, public representatives and the university administration, this project is considered an important step towards the educational development of the region, the VC said.
