Attacks the govt on a minister’s claim that the council of ministers held a meeting at BJP office
Registering his strong objection on the comment made by the Education and Health minister Dhan Singh Rawat on his Facebook page that the national general secretary (Organisation) of Bharatiya Janata Party, BL Santosh and other office bearers of the party attended a meeting with the State’s council of ministers at the State office of BJP on Sunday, the Leader of Opposition (LoP) in Uttarakhand Assembly Yashpal Arya has termed it as a violation of constitution. He questioned in what capacity the people who are not part of the state cabinet can attend its meeting.
Arya also questioned the propriety of holding the meeting of the cabinet ministers in the BJP office. He said that the articles 163 and 164 of Indian constitution clearly mention about the meeting of cabinet. “It appears that a time has arrived in which ‘whatever BJP does is constitution’. All the ministers have taken an oath of office and secrecy on the constitution and they should respect it.
All the ministers including the CM are bound by collective responsibility clause. Any person can be important but no one should be allowed to defame the constitution,’’ he said. Arya said that the minister’s disclosure of the cabinet meeting has created a situation of constitutional crisis in the state and the chief minister and his council of ministers should clear the issue.
