Situation of Covid-19 in control; ready to meet any emergency- Rawat

The health minister Dhan Singh Rawat has said that the situation of Covid-19 is in control in Uttarakhand and the State government is ready to meet any emergency situation in this front. He gave this assurance while participating in a marathon meeting of the health ministers of the country on Friday. The meeting was chaired by the union health minister Mansukh Mandaviya and detailed discussion was held in it on measures for control and prevention of Covid-19 in the country. In the meeting the Union health minister directed the State to speed up the vaccination campaign, increasing the RTPCR testing and the genome sequencing of the patients. presenting the status of preparedness in Uttarakhand, Rawat said that a virtual meeting with all district magistrates (DM) of the State would be held on April 9 for giving an impetus to vaccination drive and on April 10, a mock drill would be held to check the preparedness of administration for the pandemic. He said that in view of the upcoming Char Dham Yatra, the officers have been directed to provide better health facilities and human resources. Rawat said that 26 per cent of the population in the State is administered with the precaution dose while 100 per cent of the population above 12 years of age has been administered with two doses of vaccine. He informed that RTPCR testing facility is available in 11 centres in the government sector and their average capacity is testing 13000 to 15000 samples per day. The facility of genome sequencing is available in the government medical colleges of Dehradun, Haldwani and Almora. The State has 7703 oxygen supported beds, 852 ICU and 1165 ventilators. Rawat said that the guidelines of the union and State governments are being implemented strictly in the State. The meeting was attended by the health secretary R Rajesh Kumar, additional secretary Amandeep Kaur, director general (DG) health services Dr Vinita Shah, director National Health Mission (NHM) Dr Saroj Naithani and others.
