Six arrested for creating public disturbance in Mussoorie and Rishikesh

Dehradun police arrested six people for creating a public disturbance during separate incidents in Mussoorie and Rishikesh on Tuesday. Videos of the Mussoorie and Rishikesh incidents went viral on social media. The action was taken following the directions of Dehradun senior superintendent of police Pramendra Dobal to take strict action against people who drink in public places, fight or disturb law and order.

In Mussoorie, police received a call about a fight near the Bata showroom on June 29. A police team reached the spot and found some people fighting and creating panic among the public. A video of the incident was also viral in which the arrested accused was seen to hit a woman with a plastic crate. The accused identified as Gurugram, Haryana resident Neeraj Raghav was arrested under the relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nagrik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) after his medical examination. His vehicle was also seized under the Motor Vehicles Act.

In another incident, Rishikesh police received information about a fight between two groups over setting up shops at Haat Bazaar in the IDPL area. Police reached the spot and arrested five people for trying to disturb public peace. All six accused were booked under the relevant sections of the BNSS. Police said the drive against people creating public nuisance will continue across the district under Operation Prahar.
