Six lakh saplings of fruit-bearing trees to be distributed to mark Harela Festival

In latest news from Dehradun, the State agriculture and farmer welfare minister Ganesh Joshi asked the director, State horticulture department and the officers of horticulture departments in all the districts of the State to arrange distribution of saplings of fruit-bearing tress to mark the Harela Festival slated on July 16. The minister asked the district horticulture officers across the State to ensure maximum plantation of fruit- bearing trees suitable for monsoon season in their respective districts.

Joshi further said that the State government has set a target of free distribution of six lakh saplings of fruit-bearing tress suitable for monsoon season as part of observing the Harela Festival this year. Notably, in 2022, about five lakh saplings of trees like those of mango, guava, lichi, pomegranate and lemon among others were distributed on the occasion of Harela Festival.
