Smart city works to enhance beauty & facilities of Doon: CM

Completion of the works under Smart City project in Dehradun will enhance the beauty and facilities in the city. Chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat said this while conducting a site inspection of ongoing works. He visited the Parade Ground and the government girls inter college, Rajpur Road. He sought information from the officials about progress of the project works on Parade Ground, smart roads and the three smart schools being built in the city.
Interacting with media persons during the inspection, the CM said that the Dehradun smart city work was undertaken at a swift pace barring the Covid-19 pandemic period. The remaining works in this project will be expedited in the future too. When Dehradun was chosen for the Smart City project, it was ranked 100th but due to the pace of its work progress, the city managed to climb to 13th position. Though Dehradun has always been an attraction for domestic and foreign tourists, completion of the smart city works will further enhance the beauty and facilities in Dehradun, said the CM. He pointed out that smart school was a novel initiative taken under this project in Uttarakhand. The three smart schools being built in Dehradun will also enable a positive change in the attitude of the students. High quality facilities have been provided in these schools and all the three schools will be inter-connected. He also directed that ramps will be built in these schools for the differently abled students.
Dehradun Smart City Limited (DSCL) CEO and district magistrate Ashish Kumar Srivastava informed that the Parade Ground redevelopment includes road, drainage, rainwater collection tank, landscaping and water supply works. Informing about the various aspects of the works, he said that a target has been set to complete the Parade Ground works by October 30, 2021. Regarding the smart schools, he said that these will be completed by October 31. Dehradun mayor Sunil Uniyal, MLA Khajan Das and officials concerned were also present on the occasion.
