The Dehradun district administration has claimed that as part of efforts to modernise education, a smart education system has been implemented in 168 government secondary schools in the district. District magistrate Savin Bansal informed that under the guidance of chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, an important step has been taken to develop digital and advanced teaching facilities in these schools under Project Utkarsh. The objective of this initiative is to provide modern, technology-enabled and quality education to students.
A total of 884 smart television sets are being installed in the designated schools at a cost of Rs 3.67 crore. The supply of these smart TVs has been completed and the installation process is currently underway. Classrooms will utilise audio-video content, e-learning modules, and digital courseware through the smart TVs, making the teaching process more effective, engaging and participatory. This initiative will enable students to benefit from modern resources, such as the Diksha portal, PM e-Vidya, educational videos, and virtual classrooms, among others. He said that under the project, both 43-inch and 55-inch smart TVs have been purchased to cater to the varying needs of the schools. The approved funding for this project was sourced from the District Mining Fund. Additionally, all government schools in the district were previously furnished with furniture purchased from a corporate social responsibility fund of Rs five crore.
Bansal further informed that the smart TVs were procured through a transparent e-tender process conducted on the GeM portal. Twelve firms participated in the tender, and, following thorough technical and financial evaluations, the firm with the lowest bid was selected. The DM said that the district administration will soon provide digital learning facilities in all schools by completing the supply and installation of the smart TVs in a timely manner.
