Snowfall & rain brings temperatures down in State

With rain being experienced in various places in the plains and the mountains coupled with snowfall in the higher altitudes, the winter chill is now being felt in most places across the state. There has been a marked decrease in the maximum temperatures recorded in various cities of the state. While the possibility of some rain with thunder and snowfall was forecast in mountainous regions of various districts till Monday midnight, the state meteorological centre has forecast that dry weather is likely to prevail in the state on Tuesday. In Dehradun too the day is forecast to experience a mainly clear sky with the maximum and minimum temperatures likely to be about 26 degrees Celsius and 10 degrees Celsius respectively.

According to the state meteorological centre, the maximum and minimum temperatures recorded in Dehradun on Monday were 24.1 degrees Celsius and 12.4 degrees Celsius. The departure of the maximum temperature from normal is minus two degrees while the departure of the minimum temperature is one degree in Dehradun. The maximum and minimum temperatures recorded in other cities were 26.6 degrees Celsius and 11.5 degrees Celsius respectively in Pantnagar, 11.9 degrees Celsius and five degrees Celsius in Mukteshwar and 11.6 degrees Celsius and 4.2 degrees Celsius respectively in New Tehri.  In Pantnagar the maximum temperature has registered a departure of minus one degree from normal while in Mukteshwar the departure was minus five degrees. Trace rainfall was also recorded in Dehradun and Mukteshwar.
