Social Welfare Dept holds special camp for sanitation workers

Following the directives of district magistrate Ashish Chauhan, the Social Welfare department organised a special welfare camp on Wednesday at the Valmiki Temple complex in Sanjay Colony, Patel Nagar. According to the officials, the camp aimed to directly benefit sanitation workers and their dependents through various Central and State government welfare schemes. Several government departments set up stalls at the camp to address public concerns and provide benefits based on eligibility, they said. 

The officials informed that the Health department team conducted health check-ups for 95 attendees and distributed free medicines as needed. 

Officials reported that under various pension and loan schemes operated by the Social Welfare department, more than 300 beneficiaries received detailed information and had their application forms completed on site. Additionally, the Women empowerment and Child Development (WCED) department distributed two Mahalakshmi kits, five Kishori kits and two baby shower kits to empower and nourish girls and women, they added.

Officials also informed that the distribution of 130 assistive devices to 45 senior citizens was held at the event, courtesy of the Artificial Limb Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALMCI). The chief guest, Cantt MLA Savita Kapoor, presented these devices to the senior citizens.
