Son swept away in Badrinath while helping drowning father
Father was rescued, son still untraced

In latest news from Uttarakhand, in a tragic incident, a person was caught in strong currents and swept away when he jumped into swollen Alaknanda after seeing his father- who was performing tarpan- drowning. While the father was rescued at a short distance the son remained untraced. This happened near Gandhi Ghat in Badrinath Dham this morning. Police and SDRF were searching for the missing person when the last report came in.
The father-son duo was identified as Suresh Chandra (60), resident of Malaysia and Balraj Sethi (40), said Badrinath police station in-charge Navneet Bhandari and added that Suresh Chandra had come to Badrinath along with four other family members on Char Dham Yatra.
