The vice president of Uttarakhand Congress, Suryakant Dhasmana has said that spate of road accidents in Uttarakhand exposes the failure of the State government and the police.
Expressing grief at the demise of Uttarakhand Kranti Dal (UKD) leader Trivendra Singh Panwar in a road accident in Rishikesh on Sunday night, Dhasmana said that his death has shocked every Uttarakhandi. He said that Panwar played a major role in the statehood movement and he always raised his voice on the issues of public interest. Dhasmana said that the untimely death of Panwar is a warning to every resident of Uttarakhand about the lurking danger on the roads of the State.
Launching an attack on the State government and police, the Congress leader said that the accidents have become synonymous with murder in the State. “It appears as if the system has failed completely. After every accident the people get assurances but the fact is that the government claims have rarely been executed. The people of the State have to pay the price for the gross negligence of the State administration,’’ he said. The Congress leader demanded that the government should take immediate and concrete steps for road safety. He said that there is an urgent need to implement the regulations.
