The Vidhan Sabha speaker Ritu Khanduri revoked her earlier decision to suspend the Congress MLAs during the budget session of Assembly. On March 14, this year, th speaker had suspended 15 members of the Congress after they raised ruckus in the house. Raising a point of order on the second day of the monsoon session the Congress MLA from Chakrata, Pritam Singh said that the suspension of the Congress MLAs was not according to the rules of procedure and conduct of business of Uttarakhand legislative assembly act 2005. He said that as per the rules the Parliamentary Affairs minister should have moved a proposal for the suspension of the Congress MLAs which was not done. Singh who is six-time MLA, also cited relevant portions of the rule book to buttress his claim that the suspension of Congress MLAs was not as per the norms. He also gave recent examples of suspensions of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha members where a set procedure was followed. Singh said that the suspension of Congress MLAs should be cancelled since it was unconstitutional. On the plea of Singh, the speaker revoked her earlier decision to suspend the Congress MLAs.
